Octavio Barrera

Octavio Barrera

Octavio Barrera is a Canary-born designer. He moved to Barcelona in 2010, where he started his design studies, since then he begins to show a special interest in furniture, objects and handicrafts, generally using wood and primary materials as a clear identity of its language, simple and austere. In 2014, after obtaining a degree in Product Design from the EINA School of Design and Arts (2014), he co-founded the independent collective Proyecto Islas Canarias, as a starting point for the development of explorative projects focused on the traditional Canary culture and crafts. Nowadays Octavio Barrera works between Barcelona and the Canary Islands, where he combines the design and production of furniture, lighting and objects in limited series upon request at his studio-atelier in Barcelona, with his Creative Explorations, a projects-exercises in which through research on processes and materials he develops and produces pieces, prototypes and author studies with an experimental and (hands-on) approach.
